OutRight Action International is a leading international organisation dedicated to human rights advocacy on behalf of people who experience discrimination or abuse on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
I’ve selected them because I’m honestly amazed at the quantity and importance of so many of the projects they are working on across the world. From the change in discriminatory laws and regulations, the promotion and inclusion of LGBTQI people in society and the aim of changing public perception.

Switchboard operates a confidential, nationwide helpline which offers the LGBTQ+ community a safe space to discuss anything, from sexuality to emotional wellbeing.
It’s an incredible feat that their lines are open every day, 365 days a year – and important to recognise and applaud that, especially in Pride month!

I’ve picked AKT as my LGBTQ+ charity to donate to. They support LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 experiencing hostile home environments or homelessness, into safe homes, education and employment/training.
I want to support them as it’s vital that young people are able to express who they are and feel safe in doing so.

I’ve chosen African Rainbow Family. I’ve chosen them as their work is super important in providing safe spaces and support for LGBTQI refugees, people seeking asylum, educating people against hate crimes, racism and ignorance.
Not everywhere in the world is accepting (even though not everyone in the UK is!) so these are great for providing a safe space, therapy and community for people when they come to the UK.

I’ve selected anti-violence charity Galop for my donation – they support LGBTQ+ people who’ve experienced hate crime, domestic abuse or sexual violence.
It’s often overlooked but domestic abuse and violence including forced marriage, abuse relating to gender identity or sexuality and so-called honour based violence are on the rise, especially because of lockdowns with LGBTQ+ people often left in compromising situations.
They also offer a Trans Advocacy Service and services to those 16-25 who have experienced violence or abuse and are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
