The tour takes to the road across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Gateshead, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Portmeirion, Liverpool, Margate and London through September and October, bringing communities together.
It’s a genuinely national moment, built to put a stark fact back on people’s radar in the most human, local way possible: for the first time this century, progress on child survival has stalled. A child dies every six seconds from causes that are almost entirely preventable – and the Cake & Candles Tour exists to turn that fact into action.
The tour is just one part of a much wider partnership. Monty is working with ONE UK across the full breadth of Born to Live, a six-month campaign running through to December. The ONE Campaign has been fighting this fight for two decades.
Founded in 2004 by Bono, Bobby Shriver and Jamie Drummond alongside a coalition of leading humanitarian organisations, ONE campaigns for the policies and investment needed to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, with a particular focus on Africa. It’s a genuinely global operation – teams working out of London, Washington D.C., Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Abuja, Dakar, Johannesburg and beyond – combining grassroots activism with direct political engagement to hold governments to their commitments.
Monty Creative Director Alfie Green said: “Born to Live is exactly the kind of campaign we love getting stuck into – a genuinely urgent cause, a client who wants to push creatively, and a chance to put young creators and real communities at the heart of political change.
We’re proud to be partnering with ONE UK on this, and excited for people to see what we’ve got planned as the Cake & Candles Tour rolls out across the country.”
